A latte and a sandwich, the first order of the day looked simple enough.

"One Eevee Latte and Scorbunny Sandwich."

Two quick whistles scattered his Pokemon. They marched toward their battle stations, cute outfits worn uncomfortably. Grovyle paced near the latte station, ready to Unburden the artists once they finished.

It probably broke several regulations to have a bag of trash working in the kitchen - but he'd blackmailed the health inspector. Trubbish could keep a Sticky Hold on that Scorbunny Bread, no worries.

Trash smelled, of course, so Bayleaf dusted the sandwich in a layer of sweet dust. Sweetening not only the Scent but the taste.

"We're doing well." Killian smiled at Alexandra Briarwood, his rock.

Quickly, he turned to see how amaryllis karneva held up. "Show us hows its done, chief." she did have one with the most experience.

“Hmph,” Lex frowns at the name of the order. Everything seemed too cutesy for her taste. Especially these ridiculous outfits they were required to wear. Barista? Really? With little experience in the kitchen, Lex was designated as a server, using her agility and speed to quickly deliver the orders once they were up.

Leaning against the counter where they would appear, she vaguely motions for the pokemon to participate. She doesn’t micromanage them, and instead glances over to Killian Decker to catch his gaze. A small smile pricks at the corner of her lips. He’d looked cute as a Barista.

SERPERIOR slithered forward to help with the Scorbunny Sandwich. VINE WHIP quickly assembled the necessary pieces while the Sweet Scent and Sticky Hold finished the product. The plate slid across the counter and into Lex’s waiting hand. Now all she needed was the latte.

INTELEON used WATER GUN to fill the cup. Now all they needed was Ember to make it hot before Lex could deliver it to the table.

Imagine leaving your kitchen in Sootopolis, only to get swept up into another kitchen someplace else. It's almost as if she's been cursed to step into such places, but sometimes tells her she's fine with that. Anything that can keep her hands busy and herself entertained!

"Don't just up and make me the chief here, Killian!" Even after all the time he's spent introducing himself and explaining how they're related, she's still a little awkward when it comes to calling out his name. She'll ease into it, she's sure! But for now, she's much more invested in working on the Eevee latte, a solid Ember helping to warm it up and kept well under control by a watchful Talonflame. It's a blessing that the heat doesn't reach temperatures high enough to crack the cup!

"Steady..." It's just as much of a reminder for herself as it is for Helios. The basic patterns are created with hot milk poured into the mix, an eevee quickly taking shape as she reminds herself not to jerk away.

And not a moment too soon. She swears she can feel the gaze of a Meowth on her back, eager to throw the next order at them with no intent of letting them catch a break. In for a penny, she guesses.

"Why not, Lis?" he chuckled, "You're the one with all the experience." Older brothers were supposed to tease their younger siblings, right? Killian wasn't sure. It felt right but wrong at the same time, and it carried into his smile. Subtle, the loss of shine is likely noticeable only to Alexandra Briarwood.

Killian didn't have much time for personal introspection, unfortunately. Another hungry customer stepped up to the counter. His Slowking input their order into the register, and it appeared on a screen in the kitchen.

"Swablu Shaved Ice and Eiscue Caprese Salad."

Who ordered shaved ice this early in the morning? Killian scrunched his face dramatically and sighed. His eyes fell on Lex as his Pokemon worked hard to complete the Swablu portion of the order. The look in his eyes said the same thing her frown did.

"Get me the fuck out of here."

From the back, Lapras angled her head in from an open window. She eyeballed the distance to a cup filled with Powder Snow and held tightly by a Cubchoo. Her shot lined up; she fired an Ice Beam through the window.

At the same time, a recently acquired Cloyster unleashed an Aurora Beam. The two ice attacks combined, lighting the kitchen in a vibrant array of colors. They hit the powdered snow and solidified into a beautiful blue dome resembling a Swablue's head.

The only thing it was missing now was a sweet kiss.

And so was Killian, for that matter. He snuck over to Lex when amaryllis karneva was (hopefully) not paying attention to steal a kiss.

"Thank you." he whispered.

It’s still strange to imagine Killian having siblings. The whole time she’s known him, he’s been alone with no family . . . just like her. They are each other’s family. There isn’t much time to reflect on it as another customer approaches the counter soon after she returns form delivering the first order.

The delightful Happiny is the last to retrieve the Shaved Ice treat and trot over towards Lex with a bright smile. She even plants a SWEET KISS on the treat to give it a bit more umph. Lex sees and is utterly disgusted but says nothing. It’s not worth remaking. The red head reaches down to retrieve the first plate from the baby pokemon.

Meanwhile. The Porygon SHARPENS its beak and dices up the ingredients necessary for the salad. It patiently waits for the other to provide the Leafage.

Before the salad finds its way to Lex, Killian beats the dish to it. Lex recognizes the playfulness and happily leans into a small kiss. She parts with a smile and raised brow, “For what?” she asks, genuinely curious.

There are 2 ways to go about being the awkward third wheel to a couple's bonding session. 1, ignore it and bleach your eyes if you've witnessed anything. 2, blend into the background as best as you can and simply cease to be until they remember that you're there.

She doesn't quite mind the disjointedness of Killian's attempt to be brotherly. It's hard to imitate the dynamic that many other families have created over years of being together, especially when considering the circumstances of their blood relations.

Regardless, she does appreciate the fact that Alexandra Briarwood is able to provide her brother a sense of happiness that she can't. She'd probably look great in a dress when the time rolls around... but of course, Lis really should be focusing on her work at hand, gathering ingredients from Freesia's abundant Leafage and passing it over to the Porygon.
